And with Novus, choosing in-home emergency care never means settling for anything but the best. When you contact us, we’ll send a local care manager to assess your needs and determine the best kind of care for you. Then we’ll create a tailored care and support plan that’s built around your unique needs and circumstances. For you, it means receiving the same excellent standard of care we’re known for – at the time you most need it.

What is emergency home care?

Emergency home care is a type of care at home provided at short notice. It could be emergency elderly care, respite care (short-term support) or live-in care (long-term, 24-hour support). The main difference between in-home emergency care and other types of care is that the process is much quicker. At Novus Care, we can arrange emergency care within 24 hours, or sometimes faster if need be.

We provide tailored, specialised support to people in a wide range of emergencies. For instance, you might need our help because:

• You or a loved one needs to be discharged from hospital quickly and safely.
• Your usual carer has fallen ill.
• Your main care provider has let you down.
• Someone has had an accident or a fall.
• You need extra support because of an unexpected illness.
• You’ve had an operation and need help settling in at home.
• You need emergency end-of-life care for someone who wants to return home.

How an emergency carer can help

We’re very proud of our emergency carers. They provide tailored care for each and every person we support, and are trained to help people with a wide variety of medical conditions. That includes providing complex care for long-term health conditions.

Your carer is also there to help around the house and make sure you feel comfortable. They can:

• Help with personal care (grooming, washing and toileting)
• Do light chores, run errands and prepare meals
• Provide emergency home health care (such as catheter management, stoma care and managing peg feeds)
• Accompany you to hospital and doctors’ appointments
• Offer mobility support (such as hoisting)

When we carry out your care assessment, we’ll also work closely with healthcare professionals to arrange any necessary home adaptations or equipment.

Emergency live-in home care

With emergency live-in care, you get a highly trained carer who lives at your home on a long-term basis. It could be that you need emergency elderly care for a relative who has fallen ill. Or perhaps you’re living with a complex condition and your care needs have changed. In any case, with live-in care, you’ll have help at hand 24/7.

Emergency visiting care at home

Emergency visiting care might suit you if your needs have changed but you’re still independent – or if your usual part-time carer has fallen ill. With this option, your carer doesn’t live with you but instead visits you at home as often as you need. That could be once a week or for a few hours each day – whatever suits you best.

Emergency respite care at home

Emergency respite care is a type of short-term live-in care. We often provide emergency respite care for people who usually care for loved ones but find themselves unable to do so. The important thing is that your loved one won’t be left isolated or unsupported and will continue to receive a high standard of care. This could be for a few days or a few weeks.

Emergency hospital discharge care

Are you or a loved one expecting to be discharged from hospital soon? Our trained after-hospital carers can step in at short notice to make sure you get the help you need to settle back in at home. You’ll get 24/7 support to aid your recovery, whether that means assistance with medication, mobility, personal care or just a little light housework.

Emergency palliative/end-of-life care

Is a loved one is nearing the end of their life? Our end-of-life carers can provide expert, compassionate support to help them live the rest of their life in dignity and comfort. Most importantly, it means they can spend their last weeks in the familiar surroundings of their home instead of a hospital or care home.

Are you unsure which type of care you need? Don’t worry. Get in touch with our team and we’ll send a local carer to assess your needs and determine the best kind of care for you. In most cases, we can arrange tailored, expert care in 24 hours or less.

In-home emergency care fully regulated by the CQC

Novus Care is proud to be regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – a trusted, independent regulator for UK care providers. This means you can choose our emergency home care services with confidence. We undergo regular unannounced spot checks to make sure we’re providing the highest level of care to clients like you.
