Your safety, comfort and independence are our highest priorities. When you choose Novus Care, we’ll pair you with a dedicated carer who’ll take the time to understand your needs and what’s important to you. Our care team is carefully vetted and trained to support people with a wide range of disabilities, including Parkinson’s disease, brain injuries and stroke. For your safety, our carers are also trained in manual handling techniques and the use of mobility equipment.
What is disability care?
Disability care is a specialised type of care for people living with mental or physical disabilities. When you choose disability care, you’ll work with a dedicated carer who understands your condition and can offer the right support for your needs. That could mean assisting with personal care (washing and toileting), doing housework, running errands or helping you get out and about.
At Novus Care, we focus on providing disability home care. This means your carer can either visit you at home when you need them or live with you to provide 24/7 support.

Live-in disability care
With live-in care, you’ll get 24/7 support from a dedicated carer. They’ll live with you so you can get the help you need when you need it. You can rely on them for support with things like personal care, mobility, housework and getting out and about. They can also assist with complex care needs related to your disability. Live-in care might suit you if you live alone and don’t have anyone else around to help.
Visiting disability care
If you only need occasional help, visiting care could be right for you. You’ll still get specialised support from a carer who understands your disability and will take the time to get to know you. However, they’ll visit from time to time rather than living with you 24/7. Visiting care is sometimes called daily care – but it doesn’t have to be that often. We’ll work with you to arrange a schedule that suits your needs and lifestyle.
Respite care
Respite care is there to provide short-term support when you need it. It might suit you if your usual carer is taking a break or you need an extra helping hand after coming out of hospital. It could also be a good choice if you want to try home care to see if it’s right for you. Our respite carers for disabled adults can help with a wide range of needs, including personal care, taking medication and jobs around the house.
Overnight care
Overnight disability care is just what it sounds like. A trained carer will stay with you from 10pm to 7am so there’s help at hand if you need it. Like all our carers, they’re trained to support you with everything from household chores to complex care needs. This option might work for you if you have help during the day but want extra reassurance at night.
Companionship care
Companionship care is all about having a friendly face around – someone who shares your interests and is always ready to listen. It might suit you if you’re lonely or need an extra confidence boost to do the things you love. While companionship carers are mostly there to provide a bit of company, they can also help with things like medication and personal care. If you’re not sure which type of care is right for you, get in touch with our friendly team. We’ll listen carefully to your requirements and create a tailored care plan that’s focused on what’s important to you.
