What is spinal injury care?
Spinal injury care is a type of expert support focused on helping people with spinal injuries live comfortable and independent lives.
There are many types of spinal injuries, and each person’s experience of their injury is different. That’s why people living with a spinal injury often require specialised care that’s built around their unique needs and challenges. This could include physiotherapy, mobility assistance and personal care, along with emotional and psychological support.
At Novus Care, we provide tailored home care for spinal cord injury patients, as well as those with bone and muscle injuries.

Live-in spinal injury care
With live-in care, you’ll get spinal injury care at home from a highly trained carer who lives in a spare bedroom. That means you’ll have expert help on hand 24/7 – and the chance to build a genuine, lasting relationship with your carer. Anyone can benefit from live-in care, but it’s usually best suited to those with complex medical needs that require around-the-clock support.
Spinal home care visits
Are you comfortable and independent at home but need a bit of extra help from time to time? We can send a carer to provide tailored support on a schedule that suits you. That could range from one visit each week to help with shopping and housework, right up to daily visits to attend to complex medical needs. It’s a very flexible form of care that’s built around your lifestyle and focused on helping you achieve your goals.
Respite care
Respite care is 24/7 care on a short-term basis. How it works is simple. If your usual carer needs to take a break, we’ll send a trained replacement carer so you’ll continue to receive excellent care with no interruptions. This could be for a few days or a few months – whatever you need. Respite spinal injury care can also be a good option for those who have had hospital treatment and require extra support to aid their recovery.

How do you care for someone with a spinal injury?
It’s different from person to person. Some might have minor mobility difficulties and just need some extra help around the house. Others may live with serious conditions like paraplegia and autonomic dysreflexia (AD) that require specialised medical care. That’s why each of our clients gets a tailored care plan focused on their unique needs and what they want to achieve.
Can anyone use spinal home care services?
Yes. Anybody with a spinal injury can benefit from spinal home care. At Novus Care, we support people of all ages living with a wide range of conditions and complications.
How much does spinal home care cost?
The cost of spinal injury care depends on the type of care you choose and the level of support you need. For example, 24-hour live-in care is likely to cost more than multiple daily care visits. You can find out more in our live-in care costs guide or by getting in touch with our team.
